I've done the built-from-scratch website back in the day when Adobe Muse was still a viable thing. I actually now have DreamWeaver through my Creative Cloud license, but damn, you need to be a total web developer to use that thing now. Whatever happened to WYSIWYG???? There was another program that I had that was a stand-alone product, but for the life of me, I can't remember the name of it. It was super user-friendly too.
Then I did WordPress. And that comes with a host of other learning curve issues.
Then I went to SquareSpace, which is really pretty cool, but wicked expensive, and the price just keeps going up with that one...
So for a while I was like, screw it, I don't even need a website, do I? Who knows. Maybe I don't. But I Like having one anyway.
A Google search for stand-alone products was pointless. I downloaded OpenElement, which is a free open-source product, but again, useless to me without WYSIWYG.
And now I'm back to a WordPress-ish type layout. Still a bit funky to customize the theme, even using the Beaver Builder plugin. It doesn't want to play nice with the theme, especially on the blog posts.
So, it is what it is, as an old boss used to say. As if that's comforting somehow. For now, anyway.
